Blog Post #3

I chose Young leans new music video for the song "Hoover". The video opens with the sound of tornado sirens and rain, with fades into dark and gloomy slow motion pans of a tree and a cemetery. These shots give the video a cinematic quality. The entire video's colors seemed dreary and dark which added to the aestetic. The videos consists of shots of dirt bikes with contrasting close up shots of Young Lean rapping. In the video there are slow motion shots that are juxtaposed with normal speed shots. This adds to the drama and spontaneity of the video. The video's images seem like they started out more calm and gradually got more and more aggressive as the song went on. I believe the song dictated the length of each shot. Many of the cuts followed the beat of the music, which I believe worked well and added to the dramaticness of the video. The video begins and ends with the same shot of someone jumping a dirt bike through a cemetery, at the beginning of the video the bike is beginning the jump and at the end of the video it is landing. The cuts in the scene are obvious but it works for the feel of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jDiAcqbO0c
