Soundwalk

I did my Soundwalk project in Avalon Park & Preserve in Stonybrook NY.  I chose this location because it is a place I know very well and I wanted to know it on a deeper level through sound. I sat in the labyrinth in the park it is a nice place to go to be alone with your thoughts.  Really listening to the sounds gave this place a different experience.

I heard mostly organic sounds in the park.  The keynotes were a low sound of a slight wind moving the trees and leaves. I could also hear many birds chirping which I would probably have not noticed if I wasn't thinking about sound specifically.  I could tell it was the morning by the amount of birds I could hear.  I could also hear something rustling the ground behind me, which was probably a squirrel.  I could not hear a single car or train. It was meaningful to hear only organic sounds for the hour I was in the park.
